Reducing Risk for Girls in the Juvenile Justice
System (DOJ)
Scope: The Justice Department’s Office of Juvenile
Justice and Delinquency Prevention seeks applications
for the FY2020 Reducing Risk for Girls in the Juvenile
Justice System announcement to reduce crime and
combat victimization.
Deadline: June 1, 2020.
Funds: $1.7 million for up to four awards of up to
$425,000. The maximum project period is three years.
Eligibility: Colleges and universities; nonprot
organizations; and state, local and Native American
tribal governments.
Areas: DOJ said successful applicants will: develop
and implement direct service programs for girls involved
in the juvenile justice system to reduce reoffending;
enhance or expand existing prevention and early
intervention programs to meet the specic needs of
girls involved in the juvenile justice system; and develop,
expand or enhance targeted curricula for staff (i.e.,
probation, detention center staff, law enforcement,
judges) to ensure they have the skills necessary to
implement these programs for girls in the juvenile justice
system.

Developing victim specialists to serve American
Indian/Alaska Native crime victims (DOJ)
Scope: The Justice Department’s Office for Victims of
Crime seeks applications for the FY2020 Developing
Future Victim Specialists to Serve American Indian/
Alaska Native Victims of Crime announcement.
Deadline: May 26, 2020. The maximum project period is
three years.
Funds: $3.6 million total for up to eight awards of up to
$450,000.
Eligibility: Colleges and universities, for-prot
organizations, nonprot organizations and Native
American tribal governments.
Areas: DOJ said successful applicants will demonstrate
the existence of a relationship between a tribal victim
service program and an organization, such as a
university program or tribal coalition, that will refer,
train and supervise individuals interested in paid victim
services internships or residencies in American Indian
and Alaska Native communities; identify victim service
program staffing needs, and determine how victim
service internships/residencies would address these
needs, the number of internships/residencies necessary
and job descriptions for the participants; develop a list
of selection criteria that participants must meet to be
selected as victim service interns/residents; determine
the program requirements a participant must meet to
successfully complete the program; and identify, recruit
and hire individuals that meet the necessary criteria.

Eectiveness of the Second Chance Act Grant
Program: A phased evaluation approach (DOJ)
Scope: The Justice Department’s National Institute
of Justice seeks applications for the Assessing the
Effectiveness of the Second Chance Act (SCA) Grant
Program: A Phased Evaluation Approach announcement
to support an evaluation of the SCA grant program.
Deadline: May 26, 2020.
Funds: $1.5 million total for one award.
Eligibility: Colleges and universities; nonprot
organizations; and state, local, special district and Native
American tribal governments.
Areas: DOJ said there are three phases to the award. In
Phase 1, applicants will conduct a formative evaluation
to determine if an outcome evaluation of the SCA site is
feasible. In Phase 2, the successful awardee will submit
an application for funding to support an evaluation of
the effectiveness of the SCA grant program. Phase 3 will
involve an implementation, process, outcome, cost and
impact evaluation of the SCA sites.

Administration seeks applications for the Accelerating
Innovative Mobility Challenge Grants announcement
to foster innovative transit technologies, practices and
solutions that incentivize travelers to choose public
transportation, promote economic development in
communities and enhance public/private partnerships to
improve personal mobility.
Deadline: May 18, 2020.
Funds: $11 million total for up to 40 awards.
Eligibility: State, local, special district and Native
American tribal governments.
Areas: DOT said funding supports projects that can
accelerate the development, implementation and
adoption of innovative technologies, practices and
service models to improve mobility and enhance the
rider experience, with a focus on innovative service
delivery models, creative nancing, novel partnerships
and integrated payment solutions.
