In 2013, the Texas Legislature enacted the Texas Uniform Trade Secrets Act, which fundamentally altered the legal framework for trade secret misappropriation claims in the state. Three years later, in April 2016, President Obama signed a bipartisan law—the Defend Trade Secrets Act of 2016—establishing a new federal cause of action for trade secret misappropriation.
