About the Editors

Carol J. Patterson is a senior partner in the New York City ofce of Zetlin &

De Chiara, LLP, where her practice is focused on construction law. She has

represented clients in connection with a wide range of commercial, residential,

arts, and infrastructure projects. She writes and speaks frequently on construc-

tion law issues. She has served as president of the Association of Real Estate

Women in New York City, now known as CREW New York. She is a Fellow of

the American College of Construction Lawyers and is a member of its Board

of Governors. She has served as a member of the Governing Committee of the

ABA Forum on the Construction Industry.

Ross J. Altman practices construction law with Laurie & Brennan LLP, based

in Chicago. He represents clients in connection with projects located globally,

including a wide range of commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects.

He is particularly involved in transactional matters. Mr. Altman also is an

adjunct faculty member of the University of Miami School of Law, teaching in

the Real Property Development LLM Program. He is a Fellow of the American

College of Construction Lawyers, where he has served on the Board of Gover-

nors and as the Documents Committee chair. He is on the American Arbitra-

tion Association panel of construction industry arbitrators.

Stephen A. Hess developed and teaches a construction law seminar at the Uni-

versity of Denver’s Sturm College of Law and practices construction law and

litigation with Sherman & Howard, LLC. His writings have appeared in numer-

ous national construction law treatises and construction law journals. Mr. Hess

is the author of several books related to litigation, and he has served as editor

of The Construction Lawyer, which is published by the ABA Forum on the Con-

struction Industry, and Construction Briengs, published by Thomson Reuters.

He is a Fellow of the American College of Construction Lawyers.
