LEE N. ABRAMS is a partner in the Chicago office of Mayer Brown LLP. He
specializes in antitrust, trade regulation, and franchising matters—both from liti-
gation and counseling perspectives. He obtained his A.B. degree from the Univer-
sity of Michigan and his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School. He
was chair of the ABA Forum on Franchising from 1982 through 1985, and was a
member of the Forum’s Governing Committee from 1978 through 1989. Mr. Abrams
also served the ABA Section of Antitrust Law as vice-chair, financial officer, and
council member, and as chair of various section committees. He chaired the Anti-
trust Committee of the ABA Business Law Section from 1995 through 1999 and is
a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. He has written and lectured
extensively on antitrust, trade regulation and franchising issues.
JUDITH M. BAILEY was a partner in the Phoenix, Arizona office of Gust
Rosenfeld, P.L.C. before she retired in 2006. She specialized in franchising, distri-
bution, and intellectual property law throughout her professional career. Ms. Bailey
received her J.D. degree magna cum laude from the Arizona State University
Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law in 1975. She formed the Arizona Licensor/
Franchisor Association, the first state franchisor trade association. Ms. Bailey served
on the Governor’s Regulatory Review Council of Arizona, and on the Franchise
Advisory Committee to the Securities Division of the Arizona Corporation Com-
mission. She was also an adjunct professor of law at Arizona State University,
where she taught a franchising course. Ms. Bailey is a past member of the Govern-
ing Committee of the ABA Forum on Franchising, was a panelist at many of the
Forum’s annual programs, and chaired the Forum’s 1982 Annual Program. She
wrote the chapter on Arizona law in Covenants Against Competition, published in
2002 by the ABA Forum on Franchising.
CHRISTOPHER P. BUSSERT is a partner in the law firm of Kilpatrick Stockton
LLP and practices out of its Atlanta office. He specializes in trademark, copyright,
trade secret, false advertising and franchise litigation and client counseling. He
has spoken extensively on intellectual property topics for numerous organizations
including the Practising Law Institute, the ABA, the Law Education Institute, the
International Trademark Association, the Association of Corporate Counsel, the
National Business Institute, and the Georgia Institute of Continuing Legal Educa-
