Jim Astrachan is a principal in Baltimore's Astrachan Gunst Thomas, P.C.; a member of the Maryland, D.C., and Pennsylvania bars; and a national speaker and writer on mass communications and intellectual property topics. Jim and his partner Donna Thomas are the authors of the six-volume legal treatise, The Law of Advertising and Mass Communications, published by LexisNexis Matthew Bender. Since 1999 he has taught at the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law (Trademarks and Unfair Competition) and the University of Baltimore Law of School (Trademarks and Unfair Competition; Second Amendment and Gun Control, Copyright, and IP and Mass Communications). He is a Life Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, the Maryland Bar Foundation, and the Baltimore City Bar Foundation.
