Philip L. Bruner, Esq., is a mediator, arbitrator, and the Director of JAMS Global

Engineering and Construction Group. Prior to joining JAMS in 2008, he prac-

ticed law for 43 years in the construction law eld, the last 17 of which as

a senior partner and founding head of the Construction Law Group in the

international law rm of Faegre & Benson, LLP. Mr. Bruner is the co-author of

BRUNER & O’CONNORON CONSTRUCTION LAW.

Carl J. Circoteaches construction law and other subjects at the University of

Arkansas School of Law. He previously served on the faculty at the Benjamin

N. Cardozo School of Law and also taught law as a visitor at the University of

Nebraska and as an adjunct at the University of Missouri–Kansas City. For 20

years, he practiced commercial real estate and construction law in Kansas City

with Stinson Morrison Hecker, LLP, where he continues to consult as the rm’s

Professional Development Director.

W. Stephen Dale is a member of Smith Patcher McWhorter, PLC, in Vienna,

Virginia, and focuses his practice on construction law. His experience includes

counseling construction and engineering rms on construction issues from

contract administration to claims and litigation.

Deborah Grifnpractices construction law in the Boston ofce of Holland &

Knight, LLP. She is a past chair of the ABA Forum on the Construction Industry

and a Fellow of the American College of Construction Lawyers. She has spoken

and written extensively on construction, surety, insurance, and bankruptcy

topics.

Mark J. Groff is a senior counsel in the Washington, D.C., ofces of Akin Gump

Strauss Hauer & Feld, LLP. He focuses his practice on construction and govern-

ment contract issues. He is an adjunct professor at the University of Maryland,

Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering Project Management Pro-

gram, and at Virginia Tech University, Department of Building Construction,
