ABOUT THE AUTHORS
Gregory S. Bombard is a tria l attorney at Duane Morris LLP in Bos -
ton. Greg’s practice focuses on claims of trade secret misappropria-
tion and related claims like restrictive covenants, nondisclosure and
confidentiality agreements, and business tort s. Greg is a cochair of the
Boston Bar Association’s IP Litigation Committee and a frequent writer
and presenter on the unique issues arising in trade secret litigation.
Greg is a cum laude graduate of Boston College Law School and was Phi
Beta Kappa at the University of Conne cticut.
Joanna H. Kim-B runetti is General Counsel to Trusaic (First Capitol
Consulting, Inc.), and formerly a partner at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer
& Feld, LLP, in its Los Angeles office, where she regularly handled
trade secrets litigation. Joanna’s pre-law background is in the environ-
mental and aerospace industry, with a degree in chemical engine ering
from the University of California at Berkeley. Joanna graduated from
Loyola Law School, where she was a member of the St. Thomas More
Law Honor Society and was the chief note and comment editor of the
Entertainment Law Journal.
Emily J. Friedman is a solo practitioner at the Law Office of Emily
J. Friedman where she works as outside in-house counsel for startup
and emerging growth stage corporations in L os Angeles. Emily prac-
tices corporate and intellectual property law. Emily received her
undergraduate in law from Sheffield Hallam University in the United
Kingdom, and received a masters in law from UCLA School of Law,
where she was submissions editor for the Journal of Law and Technol-
ogy. Emily is currently pursuing a masters in computing and informa-
tion technology at the University of Pennsylvania.
Jeffrey K. Rif fer is a partner in Elk ins, Kalt, Weintraub, Reuben and
Gartside, LLP, in Los Angeles. Jeff is a business litigator and regula rly
handles trade secret lawsuits. He previously was the chair, and later
cochair, of the ABA Section of Litigation’s Trade Secrets and Unfair
