Eric M. Stahl is a partner with Davis Wright Tremaine LLP. A mem-

ber of the rm’s Media and Los Angeles Complex Litigation groups, he

represents media and entertainment companies, advertisers and other

communications companies in intellectual property, commercial and

First Amendment disputes. Along with co-author Henry Tashman, he

represented the plaintiff in the jury trial in Columbia Pictures Televi-

sion v. Krypton Broadcasting, resulting in what was at the time the

largest reported award of copyright statutory damages. He also regu-

larly litigates offensive and defensive copyright and DMCA claims

involving publications, motion pictures, photographs, music and digital

works. Mr. Stahl chairs the ABA’s IP Law Section’s Copyright Litiga-

tion Committee and has served as a National Trustee and Northwest

chapter chair of the Copyright Society of the USA. He is a graduate

of the University of Pennsylvania, obtained his J.D. from the Univer-

sity of Washington School of Law, and is admitted to the Washington

state and California bars.

Henry J. Tashman is the founding partner of Davis Wright Tre-

maine’s Los Angeles Litigation, Antitrust, Intellectual Property, Media

and Entertainment practices. He is currently the chair of the rm’s

Los Angeles Complex Litigation Group. He has handled hundreds of

complex antitrust, contract and intellectual property cases as both out-

side counsel and in-house counsel for a major entertainment company.

His copyright litigation experience includes both jury and bench trials

and numerous appeals, as well as arguing before the United States

Supreme Court in Feltner v. Columbia Pictures Television. He has rep-

resented several major studios, motion picture industry associations,

video game developers, technology companies, television networks,
