About the Authors William F. Barnes III

William F. Barnes, III, practices with Peters, Murdaugh, Parker, Eltzroth, & Detrick in Hampton, where he handles various types of cases including premises liability, defamation, product liability, and consumer protection. In addition, a large portion of his practice is devoted to car and trucking accidents, which frequently relate to topics addressed in this book. He is a Hampton native who graduated from Clemson University in 2006 and the Charleston School of Law in 2009. In addition to trial work, he has argued before the South Carolina Court of Appeals and written briefs in cases before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, South Carolina Supreme Court, South Carolina Court of Appeals, and Georgia Court of Appeals. William lives in Hampton with his wife, Kathleen, and also serves on the Board of Directors for the Low Country Community Action Agency, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to providing services geared toward achieving economic self-sufficiency for residents of Colleton and Hampton Counties.

Johnston Cox is a shareholder at Gallivan White and Boyd, P.A., in the firm's Columbia office. He received his B.A. Degree from Washington & Lee University in 1991 and his J.D. Degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law. Johnston's practice centers on insurance litigation, including insurance coverage and extra-contractual litigation; commercial litigation and representation of municipalities and local, regional and national retail establishments in a broad range of disputes.
