Prof. Arnold W. Reitze, Jr.
Professor Reitze is a Professor of Law at the S.J. Quinney College of Law, the
University of Utah and a member of the University of Uta h’s Institute for
Clean a nd Secure Energy. He is the J.B. and Maurice C. Shapiro Professor
Emeritus of Environmental Law at the George Washington University L aw
School where he was the director of the LL.M program in environmental
law for 38 yea rs. He has taught environmental and natural resource subjects
for 42 years and for 29 years taught air pollution law to lawyers in the LLM
program. He previously authored six environmental law books, including
major treatises in the air pollution eld—S S A P-
 C (Envtl. L. Inst. 2005); A  C L: C-
  E (Envtl. L. Inst., ); and A P L
(Michie/Lexis 1995). He has authored or coauthored more than 50 law review
articles, as well as numerous research studies for industry and government. For nine years he wa s the
faculty ed itor of T E L, a joint George Washington University L aw School and
American Bar A ssociation law review.
Professor Reitze has extensive experience as an environmental law yer with an emphasis on air pollution
and climate change issues and has been “Of Counsel” with a number of law rms. He has been a consul-
tant to the U.S. Department of Energy, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the National Institute
of Occupational Health and Safety, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, a nd the Transportation Research
Board and was a member of the National Academy of Sciences Committee on Demilitarizing Chemical
Munitions and Agents (1983-1984).
