About the Author
Timothy M. R avich, Assistant Professor at the University of Central Florida, is an
internationally recognized authority in aviation law and one of only 37 lawyers recog-
nized as a Florida Bar Board Certified Aviation Lawyer. He earned his MBA in Aviation
Policy and Planning from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and as a Martindale-
Hubbell AV-rated lawyer, he served as the inaugural general counsel for a multinational
precision-agriculture drone company during its successf ul efforts to obtain one of the first
Federal Aviation Administration “333” authorizations for commercial drone activity in t he
United States. e principal of Ravich Law Firm, PLLC (ww w.ravichlawfirm.com), he is a
Martindale-Hubbell AV-rated lawyer who regularly consults and represents drone owners,
operators, and manufacturers in the United States and abroad.
Professor Ravich has written extensively in connection with aviation issues, including
airline deregulation and passenger rights, aviation security and terrorism, law and tech-
nology, and UAVs (drones).
He has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and is widely cited and
has appeared in publications such as the Columbia Journal of Law and Social Problems,
William and Mary Business Law Review, American Business Law Journal, Washington
University Journal of Law and Policy, Georgetown Journal of International Law, and UC
Davis Journal of International Law and Policy.

Prior to joining the University of Central Florida, Professor Ravich practiced as a com-
mercial trial lawyer w ith McDermott, Will & Emery and Hunton & Williams LLP. He also
served as president and CEO of the Dade County Bar A ssociation, the largest voluntary bar
association in the state of Florida, and served t wo terms as a member of the ABA House of
Delegates. Professor Ravich has been named as a “Leading Lawyer” by the South Florida
Legal Guide and consistently selected by his colleagues a s a Florida “Super Lawyer.”
Professor Ravich is a cum laude graduate of the University of Miami School of Law,
where he was the editor in chief of the University of Miami Business Law R eview and tapped
as a member of the Iron Arrow Honor Society.
