DELEGATE-AT-LARGE ELECTION
Pursuant to Sec tion 6.5 o f the ABA’s
Constitution, six Delegates- at-Large to th e
House of Delega tes will be elec ted at the
2019 Annual M eeting for three -year terms
beginning wit h the adjournm ent of that
meeting and en ding with the adjournment
of the 2022 Annu al Meeting. C andidates
are to be nomina ted by written pet ition. The
deadline for petitions for the 2019 elec-
tion in San Francisco, California, is May 15.

ARIZONA STATE DELEGATE
VACANCY ELECTION
Pursuant to Sec tion 6.3 (e) of the ABA’s
Constitution, the state of Arizona will elect
a State Delegate to fill a vacanc y due to
the passing of J ohn J. Boum a. The one-yea r
term will commence immediately upon cer-
tification by t he Board of Ele ctions and w ill
expire at the con clusion of the 2020 Annual
Meeting. The deadline for fil ing petitions is

NEW MEXICO STATE DELEGATE
VACANCY ELECTION
Pursuant to Sec tion 6.3 (e) of the ABA’s
Constitution, the state of New Mexico will
hold an elect ion to fill the St ate Delegate
position that w ill become avail able due to the
election of Charles J. Vigil to the Board of
Governors. The Board of Elections will certify
the election results, and th e unexpired term
will commence at the end of th e 2019 Annual
meeting and w ill expire at the conclusion of
the 2022 Annual Meeting. The deadline for
filing petition s is May 10. For instructions and

Governance Commi ssion, and on e of the things we pressed for was
to add a seat to th e Board of Governo rs. It would be a split seat, th ree
years for disabi lity, three years for LGBTQ, and the rationale for it
was ‘if you’re not in th e room, you’re on the m enu.’ ... There have been
LGBTQ members of the board before, but here i s one where it is
making a speci fic point that you need to remember.”
