ABA Bank Marketing magazine receives four editorial awards.

ABA BANK MARKETING MAGAZINE has won four awards in the 2010 Awards for Publication Excellence (APEX) competition. The contest drew more than 3,700 entries in a variety of categories.

The magazine, which is edited by Walt Albro, was cited as the best in the category of "One- to Two-Person Produced Magazines." This is the second year in a row that the magazine took honors in this category.

The magazine was also honored for two individual feature articles as well as a series of feature articles.

ABA staff member M. Kathryn Kelly was the author of an article entitled, "Thrift Makes a Comeback," which won an award in the category of "Public Relations, Public Information and Public Service Writing." The article, which appeared in the March 2009 issue, explained the benefits to bankers of encouraging children's savings accounts.

Tom Hershberger, president of Cross Financial Group, Lincoln, Neb., was the author of an article entitled, "30 Guerrilla Marketing Tactics That Work," which appeared in the April 2009 issue. The article discussed unconventional methods to market on a shoestring budget. The competition category was "Marketing Writing."
