Although formal exceptions to the court’s rulings are unnecessary, a party must, when a ruling or an order of the court is requested or made, “make known the action which he requests the court to take or, if he has not already indicated it, his objection to the action of the court.”2140 The objection is a signal to the court that a party disagrees with the court’s ruling or order.
