7 nonprofits to receive general operating support grants.

Seven community organizations have been selected to receive unrestricted general operating support grants by Central Carolina Community Foundation.

The selected Black-led and Black-benefiting Midlands nonprofits range from organizations working in arts and technology to entrepreneurial endeavors. The foundation awarded $70,000 through the grants, which can be used at the organizations' discretion, as part of a multiyear, $210,000 initiative aimed at removing financial barriers faced by nonprofits.

The selected groups will receive $10,000 for up to three years, as well as organizational capacity-building training for recipients, according to a news release from Central Carolina Community Foundation.

"Our region's Black-led and Black-benefiting nonprofits told us that the lack of general operating support is a barrier to fulfilling their missions," JoAnn Turnquist, foundation president and CEO, said in the release. "These grants will help overcome this challenge and expand the impact of our seven grantees."
