7.8 Self-Insurers

An employer who has qualified as a self-insurer under A.R.S. Sec. 28-1222 is not required by A.R.S. Sec. 20-259.01 to provide UM coverage for an employee injured in a motor vehicle accident by a negligent uninsured party.[124] A self-insurer is not an insurance company under the laws of Arizona. No "policy of insurance" is issued in a case where a corporation is acting as a self-insurer, only a certificate of insurance is issued.
