7.8 Damages.

Courts may compensate plaintiffs for out-of-pocket losses, impair-ment of reputation and standing in the community, personal humiliation and mental anguish and suffering.⁵⁸ Damages include the “actual harm caused to the reputation of the person defamed.”⁵⁹ Actual damages should be alleged with particularity, and proof is required of actual monetary damages.⁶⁰
