7.11 Interlocutory Appeals.

In Arizona, the traditional writs of certiorari, mandamus and prohibition are called “special actions.” A party cannot obtain special action relief when a regular appeal after entry of judgment provides an adequate remedy. In addition, parties can raise only certain questions in special actions. As a result, special action review as a form of interlocutory appeal of a trial court’s denial of a motion to dismiss or for summary judgment “is a rarity and shall remain so.”⁸⁰
