TEl's international president, Robert L. Howren (BlueLinx Corp.), welcomed more than 600 attendees to the 68th Midyear Conference, "Transforming the Tax Function: From Tax Reform to the Digital Economy." The conference was held March 25-28 at the Grand Hyatt Washington.

The honorable David J. Kautter, acting commissioner, Internal Revenue Service, offered the keynote address and updated attendees on the state of the IRS.

Thirty chapter leaders from around the world met Monday morning, March 26, to brainstorm and to share some of their experiences over the past year.

Sandhya K. Edupuganty, chair of TEl's federal tax committee (Texas Instruments Inc.), moderates the "Effective Tax Internal Controls-Design & Maintenance-Best Practices" session with speakers from ADP, Longview, and True Partners Consulting LLC.

At Tuesday night's safari-themed reception, attendees were treated to a menu featuring African fare, including this braai (barbecue).
