Smith & Wesson Corp. President and CEO James Debney presented the NRA's Executive VP and CEO Wayne LaPierre with a $600,000 company donation during LaPierre's recent visit to the company headquarters in Springfield, Mass.

LaPierre addressed Smith & Wesson employees and toured the company's manufacturing operations.

"On behalf of our five million-plus members and tens of millions of supporters, I'd like to thank the men and women of Smith & Wesson for their generous support of our fight to preserve our gun rights and hunting heritage. Freedom needs our continued vigilance, and America's 100 million gun owners must stand and fight to preserve our liberty," LaPierre said.

Debney also announced the company will expand its support of the NRA by adding a company-paid annual NRA membership to its Employee Benefit Program for all full-time employees, beginning in 2015.

Earlier this year, Smith & Wesson donated safety equipment valued at more than $500,000 to the NRA's Women's Programs for the Women on Target and Female NRA certified instructor clinics.
