6.6 INFORMATION-GATHERING AND DISCOVERY

In actions for spousal support and child support, counsel must gather information so that the matters can be properly presented to the court. An income and expense statement should be prepared so that counsel can be conversant with the details of the client's financial situation. ⁴² The factors that the court is required to consider should be reviewed in a spousal support case. ⁴³ The court may inform the parties that certain information will be required by issuing a notice of information required in child and spousal support proceedings. ⁴⁴
