§ 6.1.7.3 Exercising a Legal Right or Privilege. Arizona is among the jurisdictions holding that the termination of an employee for filing a workers' compensation claim violates public policy.²⁵² This public policy protection was expressly codified in the EPA.²⁵³

The EPA also recognizes the rights of employees to vote,²⁵⁴ to decline to join a union,²⁵⁵ to be free from being charged a fee or commission as a condition of employment,²⁵⁶ and to purchase goods and supplies from vendors of their own choosing,²⁵⁷ without fear of being subjected to a retaliatory termination of employ-ment.²⁵⁸
