5.6.9 Conclusion

To maximize the use of an expert, you should bring the expert into a construction case as early as possible, and the expert should be significantly involved in all phases of the litigation. A properly utilized expert will do much more than just testify at trial. The expert should be given as broad a base of information as possible and a timeline should also be utilized, although you must take care not to expose otherwise protected information. Also, you must not overlook the interrelationship between the various experts involved in the case and your responsibility to orchestrate and develop a well-functioning “team.”
