5.2 FINAL PRETRIAL CONFERENCES

5.201 Eastern District.

A. Alexandria Division.

In the Alexandria division of the Eastern District of Virginia, final pretrial conferences are set approximately four months after the district judge's initial order in the case and are typically held on the third Thursday of each month.

For the pretrial conference, the parties must electronically file the following:

1. The F ed. R. Civ. P. 26(a)(3) disclosures and a list of proposed trial exhibits;

2. A list of proposed trial witnesses; and

3. A written stipulation of uncontested facts.

In addition to receiving a trial date, the parties should be prepared to discuss the status of settlement negotiations in the case and the possibility of a referral to a magistrate judge for a settlement conference.

B. Richmond Division.

In the Richmond division, final pretrial conferences are set pursuant to the judge's scheduling order, usually two to four weeks before trial.
