4.13 FEDERAL EXTRAORDINARY WRITS—JURISDICTION

Federal courts have jurisdiction over the traditional extraordinary writs pursuant to the "All Writs Act." ¹¹⁴ That statute allows the Supreme Court and all courts established by Congress to issue "all writs necessary or appropriate in aid of their respective jurisdictions and agreeable to the usages and principles of law."
