4.1 IN GENERAL

The Virginia Workers' Compensation Act ¹ (the Act) provides benefits to employees who are injured in accidents or suffer from occupational diseases that arise out of and in the course of their employment.

The following types of benefits are available:

1.	Temporary total incapacity (temporary total benefits or TT);
2.	Temporary partial incapacity (temporary partial benefits or TP);
3.	Permanent partial benefits for a scheduled loss (PPD);
4.	Permanent and total incapacity (permanent total benefits or PT);
5.	Benefits to dependents in case of death (dependent benefits);
6.	Cost-of-living supplement benefits;
