c. Prosecutor’s Informations

A prosecutor’s information is a written accusation by a district attorney and filed with a local criminal court.³⁸² It may be filed at the direction of a grand jury³⁸³ where the grand jury has found legally sufficient evidence to establish that the defendant has committed a non-felony offense.³⁸⁴ A prosecutor’s information may also be filed, without grand jury action, by the district attorney to supersede an information. It may charge any offenses supported by the sworn evidentiary allegations contained in the original information and supporting depositions.³⁸⁵ The third type of prosecutor’s information is filed at the direction of the local criminal court after a hearing.³⁸⁶ Finally, a fourth type may be filed at the direction of a superior court if, after it has reviewed the grand jury minutes, it has found the evidence before the grand jury legally insufficient to establish...
