29.11.2 Loss of Income. Loss of future income that would have otherwise been provided by the decedent to the parent, spouse, or adult child are compensable damages in a wrongful death claim. 81 The loss of income is generally calculated by projecting the amount that the decedent would have earned (income) minus the living expenses the decedent would have spent to support his or her own lifestyle (consumption) until the support from the beneficiary would have ended. 82 The life expectancies of the decedent and the beneficiary will typically determine the measure of how long the support would have lasted, 83 but for minor children beneficiaries the expectation of parental financial support generally lasts until the minor would have reached the age of...
