Alcohol And Alcoholism
The Twenty-Eighth International Congress on Alcohol
and
Al-
coholism
will
be
held at the Shoreham Hotel, Washington,
D.C.,
Sep-
tember 15-20,
1968.
The Congress comes to the United States for the
first time
since
1920.
This
quadrennial meeting
is
singularly the most important interna-
tional occasion for the
field
of alcoholism and alcohol related problems.
The purposes are four-fold:
1.
To present scientific findings in the
field
of alcohol problems.
2.
To
foster closer reIationships, improved communications and
other collaboration between the governmental and private groups
interested in these medical-social-health problems.
3.
To encourage further research and professional activity in the
field.
4.
To
provide through the mechanism of published proceedings the
state
of
knowledge in reference to biochemical, pharmacological,
socio-cultural, psychological and medical aspects
of
alcoholism.
Appointment
Dr.
Anthony
S.
Kuharich has retired from
20
years in Federal service
to accept
an
appointment
as
Commissioner of Correction for the State of
Indiana.
Dr.
Kuharich, appointed by Governor Roger Branigan, took of-
fice
on
April
1,
1967.
