Just in case procrastination is a problem for you, the National Association of Accountants, Alexandria, Va., offers these "Things People Would Rather Do Than Taxes":

Hire the kid next door to mow your lawn. You will not be able to claim any tax credits under the HIRE Act, but it will give you time to think of other things you could be doing instead of your taxes.

Clean out the garage. You might find some items to donate (to earn a tax deduction) or sell (to help pay your taxes).

Balance your checkbook. You may uncover a bank error in your favor so you can pay your taxes--or not.

Work out at the gym. If you are healthy, you will live longer and can pay more taxes.

Surf the Internet. The taxes will not get done, but you will receive some sympathy and read about people worse off than you.
