The Newborn Intensive Care Unit at Providence Alaska Medical Center received the 2010 John M. Eisenberg Patient Safety and Quality Award. Providence was one of three honorees to receive the award from The National Quality Forum and The Joint Commission. The NICU team was awarded for their innovation in patient safety and quality at the local level, specifically the work being done through their multi-year quality improvement project to eliminate catheter-related blood stream infection.
