Not surprisingly, non-clients generally cannot waive a client's privilege protection. For instance, a computer hacker who steals and then discloses a client's privileged communications obviously has not triggered a waiver. Chapter 25 of this book discusses the basic principle that mere disclosure does not automatically cause a waiver.
