22.9 Shared Spaces. Shared premises can give rise to liability for the negligence of another landowner. When a restaurant leased half its premises to two other tenants, and all three had equal rights to access an alley and basement, which was on the premises of one tenant, it was held that the restaurant could be liable for a deliveryman falling through a trap door left open by the tenant.¹³¹
