22.6 Existence of a Duty. The duty of care owed to a particular plaintiff is dependant upon his status as an entrant upon land. A landowner owes a duty to a passerby if he creates a walkway that induces a passerby to believe it is a public sidewalk,²⁶ or if he knows an invitee “customarily use[s] the adjacent premises in connection with the invitation,”²⁷ or if a condition on the property results in injury beyond the property lines.²⁸
