§ 22.2.1 Structure. Each city or town incorporated under the general laws of the state must have a "municipal court." A.R.S. § 22-402(A). Municipal courts, previously referred to as "police courts," include city or town magistrate courts and all other courts established by law in incorporated cities and towns. A.R.S. § 22-401. The presiding officer of a municipal court is a magistrate. A.R.S. § 22-403(A).
