2. Stay of Execution of Judgment

In any case in which a verdict is returned awarding money damages or injunctive relief and defendant’s oral post-trial motion to set it aside is denied, defendant should immediately request a 30-day stay of execution of the judgment. Absent such a stay, if the judgment is immediately entered and served, it may be enforced. If the judgment provides for an award of money damages, the defendant’s bank accounts and other assets may be seized.
