2025 Annual Meeting Highlights

The Wyoming State Bar would like to thank the 744 registrants who participated in this years Annual Meeting &Judicial Conference in Laramie, Wyoming, and helped the Bar achieve yet another successful conference! This year's event was hosted at the Marian H. Rochelle Gateway Center. In addition to the 310 attorneys and judges attending in person, there were 434 lawyers who enjoyed the CLE offerings from the comfort of their homes or offices via live stream.

The Bar extends its appreciation to all of the Wyoming lawyers who traveled to Cheyenne on their own dime to speak for many of the CLE offerings. This event could not take place without those attorneys stepping up and offering to provide their expertise on numerous topics. Nor could it take place without the generosity of the sponsors. Wyoming law firms, private practitioners and many Wyoming businesses continue to be so supportive of the Bar's events. Thank You to all of this year's sponsors! (see page 29)

The Bar would also like to thank the members of the CLE Committee! They delivered a fantastic line-up of CLE programs with excellent speakers and panelists. Thank you to Erin Murphy, Chair, Hon. J. Michael Causey, Nick Dillinger, Flavia B. Naves, Erik Oblasser, Emily Madden, and Craig Silva. Also a big thanks to Marie Ellis, CLE Director!

The Bar would like to thank Laramie lawyers Devon O'Connell and Jodi Shea for coordinating this year's Race Judicata.

The Annual Meeting also marks a change in leadership for the Wyoming State Bar. One president wraps up his/her year while another steps up to start his/hers. This year President James T. Whiting passed the gavel to Casper attorney P. Craig Silva. Craig began his service to the Bar back in 2020 when he was elected to serve as the Commissioner for the Seventh Judicial District. He served three years in that capacity before being elected President-Elect in 2024. The Bar is in good hands!

Throughout the Annual Meeting, several Wyoming attorneys were recognized for their efforts not only in their communities, but also around the state and to the legal profession as a whole.

Gerald R. Mason Professionalism Award

The Wyoming State Bar is pleased to announce that Fremont County Judge Teresa McKee is this year's recipient of its Gerald R. Mason Professionalism Award. The award was presented on September 18th in conjunction with the Bar's Annual Meeting &Judicial Conference, which took place in Laramie.

McKee is the 15th recipient of this annual award. The award was presented by James T. Whiting, President of the Wyoming State Bar, and the Honorable Kelly H. Rankin, Chief Judge, U.S. District Court, District of Wyoming.

The Professionalism Award is given to a Wyoming lawyer who represents the highest standards of ethics and dedication to the law, but also recognizes someone who contributes their time and energy to making the Wyoming Bar and its lawyers the best people they can be.

"Judge McKee represents all that is right with the legal profession and the American dream," said Whiting. "She went to law school as a single mother, tirelessly represented her clients effectively and without equal, raised her son and still managed to maintain her humanness."
