Fall Bar Admission Ceremony

On the afternoon of October 30, the Colorado Supreme Court held an Admission Ceremony for the 536 individuals who passed the July 2017 Colorado bar exam. Friends, family, and distinguished members of the legal community gathered at Boettcher Concert Hall to help the new admittees celebrate their achievement. The ceremony included opening remarks from CBA President Dick Gast and the Honorable Marcia Krieger, Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado. The Honorable Wiley Daniel, U.S. District Court Senior Judge for the District of Colorado, gave the keynote address. All lawyers then stood to take the Oath of Admission, which was administered by Chief Justice Nancy Rice. Immediately following the ceremony, new lawyers made their way to a reception at Limelight Supper Club hosted by the CBA, DBA, Colorado LGBT Bar Association, Colorado Trial Lawyers Association, Asian Pacific American Bar Association, Sam Cary Bar Association, Colorado Defense Lawyers Association, American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, Colorado Criminal Defense Bar, and Faculty of Federal Advocates.

Lawyers’ Arts Reception

On October 19, the DBA YLD, CBA YLD, and Docket Committee held a Lawyers’ Arts Reception at Meier’s Skis in Denver. The event gave the Docket Committee and DBA President Franz Hardy a chance to thank all of the entrants in the Docket’s 2017 Arts and Literature Contest for their participation. The CBA and DBA Young Lawyers Divisions also welcomed students and alumni of the University of Wyoming College of Law to the reception.

Attendees enjoyed tacos, drinks, and free tours of the Meier Factory. Guests also had the opportunity to see (or hear) the winning works and mingle with contest participants. Art contest winners were:

■ Yvette Lewis-Molock—drawing and painting;

■ Reid Neureiter—photography;

■ Maha Kamal—fiction; and

■ Andrew Felser—poetry.
