Learned Hand is a name that most attorneys recognize from their law school days, yet few are familiar with the life of this judge and prominent legal scholar of the 20th century or his contributions to the law. Learned Hand was a federal judge on the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York from 1909 to 1924, and a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit from 1924 until his death in 1961.
