CBA Board of Governors, Minutes of Meeting: November 10, 2007

The CBA Board of Governors (BOG) meets two to three times per year. The Colorado Lawyer publishes Minutes of each of these meetings to apprise CBA members of BOG actions. The published Minutes are subject to BOG approval.

The Colorado Bar Association (CBA) Board of Governors (BOG) met on November 10, 2007 at the Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs. Information about the BOG, including meeting Minutes with lists of meeting attendees, is available on the CBA website, www.cobar.org (click on "Inside the Bar," then "Governance").

Action Items


Approved the Minutes of the May 12, 2007 and July 23, 2007 BOG meetings

Approved by majority vote an amendment to the CBA Bylaws changing the name of the "Bill of Rights Committee" to the "Civil Rights Committee," and updating the Committee's bylaw description. CBA Director of Communications Stacy Chesney made the presentation on behalf of the Committee

Ratified the appointment of Liz Starrs, as well as the reappointment of Federico Alvarez and Dick Gast, to two-year terms as CBA delegates to the American Bar Association (ABA) House of Delegates

Approved the reappointment of Dick Scheurer, Barbara Blumenthal, John Holt, Rebecca Koppes Conway, and Murray Ogborn to three-year terms on the Colorado Bar Foundation Board of Trustees. Beverly Quail presented the annual report on behalf of the Foundation.

Voted to withdraw the "Endorsements and Conflict of Interest Policy," because it did not address "best practices" issues raised by the Internal Revenue Service. The withdrawal request was made by the Joint Management Committee and presented by CBA President-Elect Bill...
