2007 Distinguished Service Awards go to 3 FEI members.

• Position: Financial Executives International, Alan L. Faber, Ronald S. Stowell and Gerald Urich

This year, three FEI members were selected to receive the 2007 Distinguished Service Award. The award honors volunteer leaders who have made long-term contributions to FEI's development at the local and national level.

The three are: Alan L. Faber, Ronald S. Stowell and Gerald Urich.

Alan L. Faber is characterized by peers as a "role model." He has served, and continues to serve, FEI's Boston Chapter in numerous ways. This includes service on various committees: Nominating, Professional Development, Career Services, Recruitment and Membership, Membership Involvement and the Board Resource Committee. Faber is regarded as such a vital member of the Boston Chapter that a permanent officer VP position was created for him, so he can continue to contribute to chapter governance, continuity and values.

In his involvement with career services, Faber has counseled and helped many people over the years, by hosting--out of his own pocket--literally thousands of one-on-one counseling breakfasts. Through his efforts, he pioneered the use of career services as a way of mentoring and recruiting members.

An FEI member since 1993, Faber is a seasoned professional with more than 40 years as a senior executive in private industry and professional services. He is an active officer and director of many professional and civic organizations and an advisor to management and board members.

Ronald S. Stowell is seen by his peers as a person with a passion for FEI. A member since 1987, his roots run deep, having been named the recipient of the Student Recognition Award from the Toledo Chapter in 1975.

Stowell's energy and enthusiasm are boundless when it comes to the Cincinnati Chapter, where he has provided superior leadership throughout his tenure on various committees and as Vice President, Programs and Chapter President (2000-01).
