CLE AWARD OF EXCELLENCE
CLE AWARD OF EXCELLENCE
Organizer of CLE in Colorado Inc. is Recipient of 2004 Doyle
Award:
CLE in Colorado Inc. ("CBA - CLE") is the
non-profit educational arm of the Colorado and Denver Bar
Associations. The person responsible for organizing the
organization, Peter C. Guthery (pictured at left), was given
the Doyle Award of Excellence by the CBA - CLE Board of
Directors in December 2004. This is the third year that CBA -
CLE has presented the award, its highest honor.
The Doyle Award of Merit was established to honor Greeley
attorney Richard Doyle, who believed that continuing legal
education is a valuable resource for Colorado lawyers.
Previous award recipients are Jim Wade and the team of Willis
Carpenter and Holly Hoxeng.
A partner with the Denver law firm of Gorsuch Kirgis, LLP,
Guthery has practiced law for thirty-nine years in Denver.
His practice is limited to representation of non-profit,
tax-exempt organizations. Guthery is a member of the
Colorado, Virginia, and New York Bars. He is a Fellow in the
American College of Tax Counsel and the immediate past-chair
of the Tax Exempt and Governmental Entities Council for the
fourteen-state Central Mountain Area of the Internal Revenue
Service. He is past-chair of the CBA's Section on
Taxation and past-chair of the CBA's Business Law
Section's Nonprofit Entity Subsection and the Nonprofit
Corporation Act Statutory Revision Committee. Guthery was the
founder and program chair of CBA - CLE's Annual Institute
for Advising Non-Profit Organizations. The Institute is in
its fourteenth year.
