The Lives and Contributions of Colorado Attorneys

Michael Scott Billingsley, legislative director for Colorado Rep. Tom Tancredo and former CBA member, died on March 25 2002. He was 31. Billingsley was born at Fort Carson and grew up in Colorado Springs. He received a bachelor's degree from Colorado College, where he was a member of the ski team He received both master's and law degrees from Catholic University in Washington, D.C., and began his congressional career as an intern for Colorado Rep. Joel Hefley of Colorado Springs. Billingsley also worked as a research assistant at Freedom House and the Woodrow Wilson International Center and as a law clerk for the House Judiciary Committee. From 1998 to 2001, he was legal counsel for the House Government Reform Committee and joined Rep. Tancredo's office in December 2001. Contributions in Billingsley's memory can be sent to the American Heart Association

Water rights and real estate attorney Bart Rickenbaugh, died in a plane crash on March 24, 2002. He was 35. Rickenbaugh, a 1994 graduate of the University of Denver College of Law moved from Denver to Bozeman, Montana, in 2000, where he practiced real estate law. Rickenbaugh was a four-year rugby player at Dartmouth and a former "saddle bronc rider" with the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association. A sports enthusiast, he enjoyed hockey, skiing, hunting, and racquetball. Rickenbaugh was a member of the CBA and DBA for six years. He is survived by his wife and two children....
