The Lives and Contributions of Colorado Attorneys
Ben Bozeman, an attorney and professor, died on June 5, 2001
He was 84. Bozeman was born in 1916 in Albany, Georgia. He
earned a bachelor's degree from Mercer University and a
law degree from Mercer School of Law. He married Frances
Bennet in 1946. In addition to practicing law, Bozeman taught
at and chaired the University of Denver Department of
Business Law. He also was a member of the Denver Chamber of
Commerce, Albany Exchange Club, and Denver Exchange Club. His
interests included fishing, duck hunting, and reading. He is
survived by his wife, three children, and seven
grandchildren. Contributions in Bozeman's memory may be

Denver native and veteran attorney Hugh Allan Burns died on
June 10, 2001. He was 70. Burns married Beverly Faubion in
1954. He attended Princeton University, Oxford University
and the University of Chicago. He was admitted to practice
law in 1956 and became a member of the Colorado Bar
Association in 1958. Burns worked for the Denver law firm of
Sherman & Howard, L.L.C. for twenty-eight years, and was
a partner in the firm of Burns, Figa & Will, P.C.,
retiring in 1988. Survivors include his wife, two daughters,
a son, and four grandchildren. A memorial service will be
held on August 18, 2001, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Unitarian
Church, 1400 Lafayette St., Denver.
Hon. Edwin Philip Van Cise, a retired Judge of the Colorado
Court of Appeals, died on June 9, 2001. He was 84. Van Cise
