2000-2001 Goals and Objectives.

On August 8, TEI President Betty M. Wilson presented the following set of goals and objectives to the Institute's Board of Directors. For additional information, see this issue's President Corner.

Tax Executives Institute has adopted a strategic plan that has at its core the vision that TEI is the preeminent association of business tax professionals and the mission of serving its members and their employers through education, networking, and advocacy. The plan set forth the following five goals:

  1. Provide high quality education responsive to the needs of members and their employers.

  2. Maximize and facilitate networking opportunities for members.

  3. Expand and enhance the effectiveness of advocacy efforts.

  4. Attract and retain members.

  5. Ensure an efficient and effective organization.

The strategic plan also contains a series of objectives under each goal, and for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2001, the Executive Committee has assigned priority to the following objectives:

Goal 1: Conduct an ongoing review and comparison of the cost, content, length, and location of programs offered by TEI and other sponsors, and make recommendations for change.

Maintain a more effective marketing program for TEI's educational programs.

Goal 2: Review and promote networking opportunities provided to members.

Goal 3: Improve the means of achieving advocacy goals.

Goal 4: Identify geographic areas underserved by current TEI chapters.

Goal 5: Study the Institute's structure to maximize relationship with the Internal Revenue Service.

Match the skill sets, organization, and capacity of TEI staff to maximize the achievement of Institute goals.

Develop succession plans for volunteer leaders and staff.

Identify potential volunteers and facilitate their ability to volunteer.
