Silent alarms, also called panic buttons, have been installed in 14 schools in Marietta, Ga., so teachers can alert police instantly if they perceive a threat. School districts in other cities are considering them as are legislatures as in California, Connecticut, Delaware and New Jersey in the wake of the December 2012 shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut.
