CBA NEWS

Under the leadership of Frances Koncilja, the CBA Nominating Committee is selecting candidates for the 1999-2000 CBA officer positions. Nominations are open for the following offices: president-elect; senior vice-president, Second District; vice-president, First District; vice-president Third District; vice-president, Fourth District; and vice-president, Fifth District. All officers, once selected also are members of the CBA Board of Governors and Executive Council. The CBA held a reception on October 30 at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts for the new attorneys in Colorado. More than 500 law students passed the bar exam, and close to 400 were sworn in during the ceremony in Denver. The El Paso County Bar Association also sponsored a swearing-in ceremony on October 30 for fourteen new attorneys in that area.

Remember that homestudy audiotapes from the 1998 CBA Convention in Keystone are available from Summit AV, (800) 232-2785. Each tape includes written material and can be used to earn CLE credit.

The CBA Board of Governors will meet on January 9 in Denver to discuss policy issues. Anyone wishing to submit an item for the agenda should do so by December 4 by contacting Dana Vocate at (303) 824-5318 in Denver.

CBA SECTIONS AND COMMITTEES

The Real Estate Section sponsored a Habitat for Humanity project on Oct. 10. Hammers in hand, these spirited volunteers helped build a house for a family in west Denver. In addition, the Section recently made a $1,000 grant to the statewide Habitat for Humanity organization to help fund the construction of homes in partnership with qualified low income families.
