The Law Schools/Legal Education Subcommittee work during the last two years has resulted in the following:

1. A recommendation to the bar association that there be a special class of membership for lawyers engaged in legal education. Although faculty involvement from both the University of Colorado School of Law and the University of Denver College of Law in bar association activities is substantial at present, if this recommendation is carried out it will give special status and recognition to legal educators and make it clear that the profession is supportive of their endeavors.

2. Recognition of the value of a preliminary reading list for entering law school students. The Subcommittee examined suggested reading lists at a number of law schools and will attempt to synthesize the various suggestions created by those lists.

3. A commitment to focus on the law school curriculum and lawyer participation therein. Areas of interest include the composition of lawyering process courses, clinical and trial advocacy programs, ethics courses, one-day seminars featuring practitioners from various disciplines, student honor codes as they relate to the concept of professionalism and inclusion of professional responsibility components in various course offerings. Support of both law schools continues to be outstanding.
