Public disciplinary decisions involving issues that are not routine are summarized below, together with all private censures and selected admonishments. Occasionally, articles will appear in this space in lieu of summaries or with fewer of them.


Public Decisions

Brian J. Mullett: The court transferred the lawyer to disability inactive status on June 1, 1990.

D. Shackelford Shipp: The court suspended the respondent on June 18, 1990, for sixty days, effective thirty days from the date of the court's opinion, and assessed costs of $307.78 against him.

The respondent paid referral fees to or for an inmate in a county jail. He paid 10 percent of retainers he received from other inmates referred to him for legal services. The lawyer violated DR2-103(B) (by compensating a person to recommend or secure his employment by a client).

Al Richard Zinn: The court transferred the lawyer to disability inactive status on June 20, 1990, but granted him sixty days to complete legal matters which were pending on the date of his transfer.

James Stephen Creasey: The court suspended the respondent on June 25, 1990, for ninety days, effective thirty days after the date of the court's order. The court ordered him to make restitution to a client in the amount of $2,000 plus interest, assessed costs of $314.65 against him, and ordered him to seek reinstatement by petition.

Wayne Allen Schmad: The court suspended the lawyer for one year and one day on June 25, 1990...
