A typical comment those on the Colorado Bar Association Young Lawyers Executive Council have heard over the years about the CBA annual convention is that nobody but "old-timers" attend the convention. This statement is not true. Furthermore, there are a lot of advantages to attending the CBA annual convention, to be held this year at the Broadmoor Hotel from October 9 to 12.
The Young Lawyers Section Council is making a special effort to attract Section members to this convention, especially those who have never before attended. For first-time attendees, the convention registration fee is only $60, less than the value of the meals alone. For those who have attended before and who have been in practice for less than five years, the registration fee is $100. The fee for all others is $130.
Practical matters have been well arranged. For example, rooms are available at convention rates at the Broadmoor Hotel, Clarion Hotel and Cheyenne Mountain Inn. The Young Lawyers Section's social activity program will take place at the Clarion. In addition, all convention registrants will have use of Broadmoor Hotel facilities. A shuttle bus will run between all three hotels for the entire convention so that there is greater ease in getting back and forth to meetings for those not staying at the Broadmoor.
CLE credits are available at a real bargain rate at the CBA annual convention. More than twenty-five committees and sections will be offering CLE programs on a wide variety of topics, all part of the CBA convention registration fee.
For those who like to attend conventions but feel guilty about leaving young children at home, bring the kids. Child care is provided at the Broadmoor Hotel. It has been rated from excellent to superior by the little people and their parents who have used the child care facilities in past years. The fee is minimal. Evening child care is not available, but many people just arrange with someone who is babysitting during the day to care for their children during the evening events.
Two keynote speakers, Arthur Miller and James Schlesinger, will make presentations for attorneys, spouses and guests. Special spouse/guest events include a gourmet cooking class...
